Daddy made book launch a big deal #blog #blogging

The day could not come any faster after the night before. I slept well and had dreamed an event packed with people having fun. I’m not sure how you could have fun with a serious subject to discuss though. I was determined it would be a celebration of triumphing, overcoming not just for me but for my co- speakers.

You see we had planned ahead that it was time to share the stories of some much overlooked people in the community, only in this case Komal and Caroline happened to be close friends of mine. They had also suffered previously and had a passion to stop others experiencing same. Delightful and beautiful Asian models in their own right over the last month, met with each other and me to discuss how best to present their stories. You can imagine they individually have had to go through and how nerve wracking it would be to have to sit or stand in front of a forgiving audience some of whom might glare or stare at them all the while.

We were all excited and I think the social media channels had been blasted with words like ‘coming soon’ #beautifullyflawed #breakthesilence #pentoprint, photos and videos and much more. There were retweets, shares, comments, posts, Instagram hashtags and you name it, we found ways including banners to share word that domestic violence matters was coming to the agenda in the community of Barking and Dagenham.

Riddled but not labelled one of the boroughs with the highest recorded incidences of domestic violence, it seemed fitting that a community-oriented platform to address the matter was apt and timely.

Watch “I blame my parents” @BBC 3 on 20/01/19

There are too many cases of cyber bullying and suicide among our youths!

It’s time someone or some people started talking…

Follow us into our private lives as we share our struggles, mine as a parent to my lovely Dami; and my daughter as a young adult.

#Mentalhealth issues are alarmingly on the increase and not talked about much. I was too busy to see what was happening in my own home.

“I blame my parents” (an interesting hook) is the title of this @BBC documentary where communication skills with my beautiful daughter is “put under the microscope”. We talked about church and God’s influence on healing too (hope that gets in…😂)

Beautifully Flawed, My new #book out on #Amazon

Divorce is never an easy subject to talk about and it takes it toll on the parties involved, especially the children and wider family and social networks. I pray you never have to take this route and that your relationship does not take a violent turn…

Time for a change #blog #blogging

My thoughts were: What? How come? How is that a solution? Really? Is that what this is all about? A whole maze of confusing words, images flashed before me. It took me a while to respond as I think I had my mouth open… After I recollected my thoughts, I asked for some time to think through the request, a valid one, since I had to drive back to pick the 3 beauties on my usual school run.

Another sleepless night. Not sure what conversations I had with God that night as I was still shocked at the turn of events. You can imagine what it was like to feel the rug was being pulled out from under your feet or your world has just dropped.

I remember at some point coining the phrase, “stop the world, I want to get off”

His thinking, my thinking… #blog #blogging

It’s been a truly humbling week. One that deserves me taking back the complaining comments I have made in the past.

God is faithful and does not make sense too. But He’s God. 😁

I love the way He’s always reaching out to us. Take for example the lyrics of the song “Reckless Love”

Imagine how much I battled with posting the words, “Jesus is coming soon.” It is a statement not a topic for debate. He just is. You see when we start to reflect on life and truly realise it’s all about and for Him, God, we begin to grasp a little bit about His Love.

Is she the right one? #blog #blogging

So I was attending a wedding 🎩 👰 where the bride and groom were about to exchange their vows. The minister asked for the one giving her away and her father came forward claiming it was him. The minister asked if he was happy with the proceedings so far because another previous ceremony had left the father of the bride then, quite upset. This father said he was.

Next the minister asked the groom to lift up the veil to check if he had the right woman at the altar. The congregation burst into rapturous laughter as he reminded us this was not the first time a bride 👰 had been switched for the groom.

Living with mum, can be fun but… #blog

Her wisdom surpasses mine in so many ways. She’s seen it all, “almost,” so when she says to go to Costco and buy in bulk to save it deserves more than a cursory nod of the head in agreement. I take her point. She’s so right about these things.

Another suddenly #blog #blogging

Regretting the fact that I had neglected to follow the instruction to send ahead to the participants, some documents to read, I slightly asked Daddy to intervene. Hence the need to access the email on my phone so I could ask someone in our destination’s support team to print some copies for the meeting. One of our team brought a copy and Coulter too. Thank Daddy for his sense of humour.

During this meeting, I heard myself begin to say things I had no prior planning to utter, but seemed to meet the need at the time. Many questions and demonstrations later we were out.

The big 40! #blog #blogging

I asked the First Lady for permission to get people on the train to sing her a song. She was politely arguing her refusal when I suddenly jolt-started her by getting up and making a plea. Somewhat unusual for dressed ladies with lipstick as this was a usual thing with people who had either musical instruments or tins to collect money.

Does God laugh? #blog

Have you wondered like me if God has a sense of humour? Well He made you and me right? In His image? Likeness and we have His nature – in Jesus. So yes possibly, He does.
Imagine how much pleasure we get from a good joke or laugh and it’s scientific benefits. We release endorphins from laughing and they make us feel good.

That was not all. I became part of the entourage to sit with this dignified individual. Cool stuff. But my M friend was waiting for me. So I had to phone to tell her I had upgraded Travel for which she complained that I would no longer be sitting with her. Oh dear. So I agreed with her that I would sit beside her. Only I had not realised how difficult it would be to keep that promise
